Healing Elements In Essential Oils
For centuries, natural botanicals have been used as tonics to heal those who were sick and injured. Their use goes back thousands of years. Even oils like frankincense and myrrh were referenced in the Bible, and there are records of essential oils being used in Ancient Chinese Medicine over 3000 years ago! The reason the use of essential oils has transcended centuries is because of their natural healing elements. To put it simply, it’s because they work!
Essential oils are made by extracting pure oil from a plant or flower. There are different ways of doing this; the most common ways are steam distillation, where the plant is steamed, which pulls the oils out, and then the steam is run through a pipe to separate the oil from water. Another option is cold pressing, which is commonly used for fruit oils like lemon or grapefruit oil. Each unique oil has its own healing elements and properties that effectively treat different conditions and illnesses.
For example, peppermint oil naturally contains anti-inflammatory, anti-septic, anti-microbial, and antispasmodic properties, making it great for pain relief or fighting bacterial or fungal infections. Another example is lemon oil, which naturally has detoxifying and astringent properties, which make it a great immune and energy booster. As you can see, there are many natural healing elements found in essential oils!
